Adjectives Types and Examples
An adjective is a word that describes a noun or pronoun. For example, the word “red” is an adjective that describes the color of something.
Examples of adjectives:
-Color words like blue, green, and red
-Shape words like square, round, and triangular
-Size words like big, small, and enormous
-Age words like young, old, and ancient
-Material words like metal, paper, and plastic
Types of Adjectives
There are three types of adjectives:
-Descriptive adjectives describe the qualities of something. For example, the word “colorful” is a descriptive adjective that describes the color of something.
-Quantitative adjectives describe the quantity of something. For example, the word “many” is a quantitative adjective that describes the quantity of something.
-Proper adjectives are the names of specific things. For example, the word “France” is a proper adjective that describes the name of a specific country.
Why study adjectives?
Adjectives are important because they help us describe the world around us. Without adjectives, our writing would be very boring and dull. Adjectives add color and life to our writing.
